Coleophora hemerobiella

(Scopoli, 1763)523 / 37.039

Uncommon local resident.

Malus sylvestris, Crataegus spp., Prunus avium, Pyrus spp., Sorbus torminalis, with larva mining for two years. Initially making a strongly curved case of leaf fragments in which it overwinters, feeding in the next spring and early summer, enlarging the case into a semicircle. In the next spring constructing a long, brown trivalved case in which it feeds until June, making large, brown blotch mines.
