Uncommon resident mostly in ancient deciduous woodland.

Most easily recorded from mines on Populus spp, particularly P. tremula with larva feeding from August to October in a gallery mine, often in small root suckers and young trees.

Recorded in 21 (15%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2020.
