Common resident.

Mines the leaves of Crataegus spp. with larva feeding in May - June and August - September. In a narrow gallery mine with linear frass widening abruptly to a small blotch, usually near the margin of the leaf; larva whitish.
Males have black heads, females may have black or orange heads.
