Very local resident, confined in the UK to the West Midlands region.

Most easily recorded from leaf mines on Sorbus torminalis and S. aria with larva feeding in June / July and September / October. In a gallery mine with linear frass of variable thickness, sometimes in 'green islands' in the autumn; larva pale yellow. Mines can be uncommon to fairly common, varying in abundance from year to year.
