A common species in the south, less common in the north of the region.

Found in a wide range of habitats.

Note Care is needed to separate from Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet. Latter usually lacks red or purple in central band (there is a red form). Red Twin-spot generally brighter and central band more distinctly edged white. The outer edge of the red band near the costa usually has a distinct notch in it whiuch is lacking in the DBTSC. Underneath is brighter and orange-brown towards the tip on Red Twin-spot, plainer and greyer on Dark-barred. Check genitalia if in doubt.
